About Dashain
Dashain (Bada Dashain) is Nepal's longest and biggest festival. It celebrates the victory of the goddess Durga over evil and brings families together from across the country and abroad.
It begins with Ghatasthapana, when jamara (barley) is sown at home. On the main day, Bijaya Dashami, elders give tika and jamara to younger family members along with their blessings.
